About me

Becca Miles (they/she) is a writer and freelance editor based in Newark, UK. They have a Creative Writing BA (First Class Honours) from The University of Winchester.

As a writer, Becca has performed their poetry at UK open mics since 2015 and came first in the 2023 Winchester Poetry Festival slam. They've been published in various magazines and anthologies, and 12 of their poems are featured in the three-poet collection Steel-Tipped Snowflakes. They co-hosted nine episodes of the podcast 'The Poetry Show'.

In addition to poetry, Becca has been published as a nonfiction writer and has about two dozen drafts of short stories, novels and play scripts, some of which may one day see the light of day.

As an editor, they worked for two years as an Editorial Assistant at small press Stairwell Books, where they were their manager's go-to editor for Speculative Fiction and Young Adult manuscripts. They have experience at all phases of the editorial process, including slush-pile reading, developmental editing, copy-editing, proofreading, and sensitivity reading. They were the primary editor for the post-apocalyptic, slipstream science fiction novel Tyrants Rex, the author of which specifically requested that Becca be assigned to work with him on future manuscripts.

Becca is a compulsively creative person with an unquenchable drive for storytelling, be it in the form of writing, music, designing fantasy maps, or tabletop and live-action role-playing games. They have contributed to multiple original role-playing games as both a writer and a game-runner.
